IN Nichiren Daishonin's writings, we find the statement, "Fortune comes from one's heart and makes one worthy of respect." Faith is what enables us to strengthen and deepen our hearts to the ultimate degree.

THOSE who persevere in their Buddhist practice throughout their lives are true followers of Nichiren Daishonin. Those who embrace the Gohonzon and never abandon their practice no matter what difficulties lie ahead are Nichiren Daishonin’s genuine disciples.

A life of staunch perseverance and struggle based on faith will, like flowing water; break through any wall of obstacles that stands in its way. Therefore, one must not discard the heavy load that one is carrying. A position in the organisation is, in a sense, a heavy load to bear. However, one who continues walking straight ahead while shouldering these responsibilities will, in proportion to their weight, be able to greatly develop one’s state of life.

THERE is no person who has ever achieved first-class standing in his or her given field merely on innate talent or favourable circumstances alone. It is the number of life and death struggles a person has experienced that forges and creates an individual of genuine first-class standing.

A person who makes serious efforts to achieve a great goal does not overlook even the slightest details. One who neglects small things will never amount to much.
