NICHIREN DAISHONIN taught us that faith means establishing an indomitable self that is not swayed or shaken by any social crisis or external misfortune that may beset us. This is the imperturbable life-state of the Buddha described in the Lotus Sutra by the phrase, “This, my land, remains safe and tranquil.”

NO matter how tough things get, it is important to remember that, if others can do it, so can you, and to be determined to challenge the limits of your potential. You have to believe in yourself one hundred percent. Constantly comparing yourself to others, swinging between feelings of inferiority and superiority, is a sad way to live.

AS long as one maintains hope, he or she is a victor. Whatever unfortunate circumstances one may be in now, if one loses hope, one’s life will become dark and gloomy. Faith allows one to live with infinite hope and to realize one’s dreams.

ONLY Buddhism can apprehend and illuminate the complex and subtle totality of the mind. And it is our Buddhist practice and our activities for kosen-rufu which purify, transform, and lead the mind, that is, our life, in a better direction.

AS we carry out our faith in this lifetime, we will experience some obstacles as well as various degrees of suffering arising from our karma. However, when viewed from the eternal perspective pf past, present and future, these things are truly insignificant. When we stand up and challenge the great problem of spreading the Law and saving people, we will not be captured or swayed by minor difficulties.
